He was born on November 22, 1991 to Mr. And Mrs. Salvador and Perla Magpantay Bernados at the Morong General Hospital in Morong, Rizal. A year after Theo was born, the family migrated to the United States and settled in San Leandro, California. He went to Washington Manor School until September 2004; the year he decided to join ABS-CBN Star Circle Quest 2004. His charm has won him the support of his kababayans, until he was voted out during the final elimination round. A day he won’t forget as he saw most of his disgruntled supporters in the verge of tears. While in Manila, Theo continued his studies under the ABS-CBN Distance Learning School, where most of the performing artists and talents of said production outfit study. It was also during this time that he had the taste of “adult independence”- a reality he so welcome. He narrated the need for him to be on top of his household obligations like bills, food, helps etc., although he admits that whenever he needs to come up with major decisions, it is still his parents he fall back on to. Although he enjoyed being in show business doing regular stints with ASAP, a noontime variety Show on ABS-CBN and occasional guestings on primetime programs like Maalaala Mo Kaya, Homeboy, his winning streak in Game Ka Na Ba, with Kris Aquino, very recently. However, time came when Theo finally decided that he had enough of being “home alone in Manila”, and that he has grown very homesick. Theo decided to temporarily defer showbusiness, go back home to the U.S. to simply enjoy his boyhood once more. It’s not that he hated his new found “independence”, it’s just that he learned that it can wait until the appropriate time. For now, all he cares about is home, his family and his friends in the US and the kind of life he left there in 2004. “Normal”, as he would aptly describe it. Proud of the way his parents had brought him up, “very spiritual” he confides. He recounts his dad’s precious advice “ don’t be afraid to get out of the box”, giving Theo so much confidence in pursuing the challenges he faced. An upbringing that he had carried around with such ease and confidence. In fact, his advice to young people like himself is for them to “honor thy father and thy mother” and expressed related incidents of fall-outs among young people because of disrespect and disobedience to their parents. Asked if there is one thing that he wanted to change with the things around him, his abrupt answer was “ government”, hitting adult issues with such lucidity and honesty. Conviction-wise, Theo has obviously taken after his grandfather “Ka Ulo Bernados”, whose integrity and honor left a lasting legacy in the mind of his “apo”. He intimated that he misses his “lolo” very much and that, he yearns for him; wishes to have been given more time to spend together. Perhaps, enough time to talk with him, ask him questions and by so doing, get wisdom; something he believes his Lolo possessed. “ I am always proud to be a Bernados” , he beams with pride on the legacy his grandfather left. Theo is leaving for the States after filming his movie “ Manay Po” with Polo Ravales, Jiro Manio, John Pratts, Christian Vasquez and Cherrie Pie Picahe under Regal Films to be directed by Direk Joel Lamangan. After which, he looks forward to a “normal” life, as he described it and perhaps wait for the appropriate time where complete independence would take its place in his life. Perhaps also, when he’s ready, he will go back to invade showbusiness again. After all, he left the doors open. His mother studio “ABS-CBN” better be prepared for his comeback!
