TANAY AT A GLANCE

Tanay, Rizal is situated in the Philippines, directly east of Manila, about 57 kilometers away. Tanay was founded in 1606, a town of 85,000 is considered as the central trading post of Morong, Pililla, Baras, Jala-jala, Mabitac, Siniloan and Sta. Cruz in Laguna.

It is home to a number of natural attractions including the Kalinawan Cave, Daranak and Batlag Falls, Tinipak and its white marble deposits alongside its riverbank, Daong, Sierra Madre Mountain, crystal clear water of Daraitan river with colorful stones beneath the surface and gold mining in sitio Angilo that lie concealed behind the 12 hours of perilous journey on foot from Barangay Sta. Ines.

It is a town with a tremendous contrasts: natural spring water, numerous caverns, superstitions, urban and rural barangays, entertainment and a number of resorts including Pranjeto Hills, Sierra Madre Resorts, Sacramento Valley Resorts and Don Pedro Hotel and Resort, and every January with an explosion of Town Fiesta decorations, singing contests, extravagant marching bands, Fairs and thousands of vendors scatters around the town.

Tanayans are friendly, greagarious, accommodating, hospitable and helpful. In addition to that, transport is cheap, the food is plentiful and good, accommodation is fair and English is widely spoken. The wet season runs from May to October and the dry season from November to April. The half year of sunshine and tropical climate make this town well suited to the occasional vacationer.

Parola Fired up by the passion of a great historical significance, the vast Laguna Lake remains to this day a wonderful mystery. Church of Tanay Lying quiescent in the midst of archaic Acacia Trees, sprawled through out its immense surrounding, Tanay Church has truly taken its form; A felicitous contribution to the historical structure of this town. Depicted in every layer of stonewalls that was intricately built by bare hands of those who came hundreds of years before us. Built in the seventeenth century, the Basilica was forever immortalized both in its exterior, as well as interior.

Inside, the saints are narrated in an elegant and reclusive world of genuine reflection. Accentuated in deep tones of brown, blue, red and gold creates a warm atmosphere. A world transformed in time. From a distance, the eminence and elegance of its saint emanates a solemn yet dignified sense of past.


Bukal Chapel Possessing the essential qualities of ecclesiastical nature inherent to a deep cultural heritage from Spain, in this culture that bear an intrinsic clamor for mythical reality, the Bukal Church holds a special place in the religious tradition of Tanayans.

Known for the healing qualities of its spring water; Revered in an exuberant display of the various 17th century religious relics encompassing the Miraculous Shrine of the Holy Cross.

Remarkable in the gigantic charm of the Tekla Tree planted by two Franciscan priest in the 17th century bequeathing a legacy etched in the old world splendor of Tanay.


Grotto Enshroud in a tranquil atmosphere of the mountainside; atop a two-hundred-step grand palatial stairway lies the Shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary encamp in a man-made stone cavern; adorned by a venerable Bougainvillea spreading beauteously in white and violet blossoms.

Magnificent in its 14 meters lunge, the Daranak Falls create a lyrical yet powerful uproar gently breaking the pristine silence underneath, making its oval basin more inviting as pressures from the cascading waters could very well provide a healthy invigorating massage.

Enchanting in its captivating ease, the Batlag Falls, though smaller, is a tranquil haven of cool and gentle waters. A soothing respite perfected in a splendid fusion of natures aesthetic wonders.

Kalinawan Cave Sculpted in the niche of old age heroism, myths and legends is a reclusive sanctuary of the rolling highlands of Rawang; known for its famous Kalinawan Cave, An aesthetic composition of rolling cave structures;limestones ,clastic rock formations and an impressive collection of stalactites and stalagmites; founded amorously in a lush forest environment.

A lucid underworld charm that has became a legendary shelter to our ancient Filipino Freedom fighters who fought vigilantly against the Spanish, Japanese and American invaders during the dark years of Philippine History.
